Get An Expense Account And Fringe Benefits
An expense reimbursement account is actually better than a
raise. It means tax-free reimbursements for you, and your employer saves money
because they don't have to pay any Social Security tax on those payments.
See
the Fringe Benefits article of the Business Tax section for more ideas on
tax-saving fringe benefits. If you don't think you can get a raise,
try asking for an expense account. If your employer expresses a concern
that you may overuse your expense account, offer to limit expenses to parking,
mileage and other pre-approved expenses.
